AAlthough cats have a reputation for being aloof, many love spending quality, up-close time with their people. Searching for a cuddly companion? These five breeds are known for being especially affectionate:

Famously cute, Scottish Folds are as friendly as they are adorable. The breed is renowned for being gentle, quiet and loving.
“They are always around to make you smile,” says Cheryl Hogan, a specialty judge with The International Cat Association (TICA). “They are very loving and want to be with their special person every minute that they can.”
Scottish Folds like to follow their families around, and are known to be patient and tolerant with young children.
It’s important to note that not all Scottish Folds have the signature downturned ears. Some kittens never develop the namesake ear shape, but they remain just as sweet and affectionate as their folded ear peers.

My ginger tabby, Chris, is the most affectionate cat I have ever seen (he is lying on my arm now forcing me to type left-handed). Our Siamese, Floki, is a distant third behind our other ginger tabby, Frankie.
